Today, 1 November, Rachel Cooper, barrister with Coram Chambers, is sharing her insights at the 68th Annual International Association of Lawyers (UIA) Congress in the enchanting city of Paris.
Joining her are esteemed legal professionals María Valentí Acedo, a dual-qualified French and Spanish international lawyer from Libra Advocats, and Paula Piquer Ruz, a qualified Spanish Abogado and English Solicitor from Buckles Solicitors.
Unlike conventional arrangements, triads or ‘throuples’ encompass a three-person relationship that transcends casual encounters or open relationships. This discourse aims to clarify these distinctions and explore the evolving legal implications surrounding such partnerships. Rachel is speaking about the ways of approaching finances, including under Schedule 1 of the Children Act, when throuples separate. Paula is speaking about children of throuples and Maria about inheritance and pension rights issues on the death of one party to the throuple.
The session is being chaired by Joanna Metaxas of Charles Russell Speechlys, ensuring a robust and engaging dialogue on this contemporary topic.
