As the new legal year commences, Coram Chambers is delighted to extend its warmest congratulations to Maya Achan and Lucy Taylor on becoming barristers with our chambers. Both Maya and Lucy successfully completed the pupillage program with Coram Chambers, and we are immensely proud of their achievements.

At Coram, we take great pride in our pupillage system, which focuses on providing comprehensive support, training, and learning opportunities. We firmly believe that nurturing and encouraging pupils leads to their success. Our goal is to create an environment where pupils can thrive and develop their skills.

During the pupillage year, pupils work closely with three supervisors and gain exposure to a wide range of legal work undertaken within the chambers. This hands-on experience equips them with valuable knowledge and expertise in handling leading cases, high-profile matters, and complex legal issues at the forefront of legal developments.

In recent years, our members have been involved in leading cases in prestigious courts such as the UK Supreme Court, Court of Appeal, European Court of Human Rights, and Inter-American Court of Human Rights. This exposure allows our pupils to engage with cutting-edge legal issues and make meaningful contributions to the legal profession.

Coram Chambers is committed to nurturing talent, and we offer two fully funded 12-month specialist family law pupillages with a generous first-six award of £36,000, which can be received tax-free. Additionally, we guarantee second-six earnings of £10,000, with pupils entitled to retain any receipts above this amount. Upon commencing tenancy in chambers, earnings are expected to increase significantly and rapidly, with an average of upwards of £100,000 within the first 2-3 years of tenancy.

We are thrilled to welcome Maya and Lucy as barristers with Coram Chambers, and we look forward to their continued success within our chambers.
