The members and staff of Coram Chambers were greatly saddened to learn that our dear friend and colleague, highly respected family lawyer, Katy Rensten, has passed away.
Katy was a brilliant lawyer and a beguiling but fearless courtroom advocate, who gave her remarkable energy, warmth and commitment to each of her clients. She was quietly and deeply committed to the principles of justice and equality. Katy also threw herself in to the life and work of chambers, putting her shoulder to the wheel. There was no obstacle that could not be overcome by her cheerful, shrewd intervention.
All of us who were fortunate enough to know her found in her a funny, kind, generous- hearted and loyal friend. Her gallant engagement with cancer inspired awe in everyone, as she continued with business as usual, cheerful and uncomplaining.
We wish to express our deepest sympathy and condolences to Katy’s wife, and our colleague, Marcia and her family. They are in our thoughts and prayers.

Katy recently wrote a blog during LGBT+ history month about her journey to the Bar which you can read here. She also wrote a very powerful blog on the topic police brutality and systemic racism in the UK and how the fight for justice is far from over. You can read it here.
