In a significant development for child advocacy, Shiva Ancliffe KC, a distinguished barrister at Coram Chambers, has been elected as a trustee of the National Youth Advocacy Service (NYAS).

This esteemed appointment reflects her commitment to supporting vulnerable children and young people across England and Wales. Shiva joins fellow Coram Chambers barrister, Martha Cover, who has served as a trustee since December 2019.

The NYAS is renowned for its extensive range of support services designed to empower children, young people, and adults in vulnerable situations. Their mission focuses on enabling these individuals to make their voices heard, particularly through core advocacy services.

In addition to issue-based advocacy, NYAS offers specialised support programs, including mental health advocacy and NYAS Legal Services, ensuring comprehensive assistance for those in need.

Shiva Ancliffe’s election to the NYAS board highlights Coram Chambers’ longstanding dedication to child advocacy and welfare. Her insights and expertise will further enhance NYAS’s capacity to advocate for the rights and well-being of vulnerable individuals. Alongside Martha Cover’s ongoing contributions, the collective efforts of both barristers at Coram Chambers underscore a robust commitment to championing the voices of those who often go unheard.

As they embark on this important journey, both Shiva and Martha aim to elevate the standards of advocacy and reinforce the essential support structures available for young people facing challenges.
