On 3rd April, FLANC (Family Law Advice for the Neurodivergent Community) proudly unveiled a pioneering toolkit to make dispute resolution more accessible for neurodivergent individuals. This significant initiative came to fruition through a collaborative effort with Family Law in Partnership (FLiP). The launch event, held at FLiP’s new offices, showcased the dedication of Jenny Beck KC (Hon) of FLANC and Liz Fletcher of FLiP, who have worked diligently to bring this essential resource to life.
Caroline Croft, barrister at Coram Chambers and a founding member of FLANC, shared her insights on the toolkit, stating, “My colleagues and I at FLANC firmly believe that dispute resolution is an excellent option for many neurodivergent people. Our goal with this toolkit is to equip professionals in the field of dispute resolution with practical resources that recognise and accommodate neurodivergent needs, ensuring that the process is as accessible as possible. This, in turn, will lead to the best outcomes for all involved. Collaborating with FLiP on this toolkit has been a wonderful experience, and we hope this toolkit will complement the Family Justice Council’s guidance published in January, along with FLANC’s ‘All About Me’ document, to promote a truly neuroinclusive approach to dispute resolution.”
The toolkit is readily available for access here and you can view the FJC guidance here.
The All About Me template can be found at the bottom of this page.
This toolkit marks a vital step forward in ensuring that the legal community is equipped to support neurodivergent clients effectively, fostering a more inclusive environment for all.
