About
Alex joined Chambers as a pupil in October 2024. She is currently supervised by Nicholas O’Brien.
Prior to joining Coram, Alex worked as a Judicial Assistant to Sir Jonathan Cohen and Mr Justice MacDonald in the Family Division of the High Court. Her work spanned across complex children law matters, Court of Protection and Deprivation of Liberty proceedings, and high-net worth financial cases. Her duties included assisting to prepare judgments, reviewing applications for permission to appeal, and undertaking legal research.
Alex additionally worked as a Legal Assistant in the family department at a busy London-based legal aid firm. A high volume of her work involved assisting to represent CAFCASS Guardians in both care proceedings and 16.4 private law cases. She also regularly worked with parent clients and liaised with litigants in person.
Alex has a strong background of working with vulnerable clients. During the pandemic Alex worked as a support worker to adults with learning disabilities. Previously, Alex spent time volunteering in Greece providing legal advice to asylum seekers.
Alongside her legal studies, Alex co-founded the Cambridge University Human Rights Law Society and held roles as LGBT+ Officer of Newnham College and Treasurer of Newnham College Law Society. She also worked part-time as an assistant to a barrister working on media law and inquiries.
